What are the workbooks for?

If you are a teacher, using these workbooks you can easily help your students’ development.
You can even help the whole class and see:

– an increase in their learning skills
– a decrease in behavioral problems
– increased participation in team activities
– students with lower abilities more willing to join in
– an improvement in their vocabulary and their ability to express themselves

If you are a tutor, you can effectively help students with difficulties, wether working with them in small groups or one-on-one, if they have special needs. You can also improve their basic skills before they enter higher education.

Why we made this series?

We have been working with schools to assist them with carrying out their mission. The teachers complained about increasing difficulties during teaching and we also had the same experience. The inflexibility of the educational system, the unreasonably heavy curriculum load, the behavior of the students and the lack of their motivation; all these make teachers work especially hard.

The Study Technology of L. Ron Hubbard  many teachers (private as well as public) and students have applied it successfully. By the use of this method, students’ understanding increased, their IQ also increased, they became more active, more cooperative and their results improved. Moreover, their teachers also felt more accomplished.

The most spectacular results came when the students were taught the keywords of each subject. The following short film shows how it works of the understanding of some words of those 16-17 -year-old students who already gave up learning.

When the teachers saw this film, they wanted to help their students the same way, but working with the students one on one, seemed impossible for them. For this reason we developed our workbook series for the teachers on each basic subject. This way they do not have to deal with writing definitions for the words themselves, they only have to help the students gradually going through each step as it has been written. It can be used for whole classes and it can be used very easily.

The other advantage of the workbooks is that there is no need to have previous experience. It is enough to follow the instructions, it brings results regardless if the teacher knows the teaching method or not. We tested it on thousands of students, and we got the feedback that even those teachers who were not skilled in the method, had success in the public education system. Let’s see what teachers said!

How the workbooks are composed?

With the help of the teachers’ experience, who have been using the teaching method, we made a list of the words that needed to be cleared. Experience has shown that most of the problems in high schools are caused by the lack of foundations of the basic subjects on a primary school level. When the basic words were understood by the students, they could get the more advanced curriculum easily. This was proven by the fact that when the students in high schools were just given extra tutoring for their respective curriculum, they could only develop a little, because they did not go back to the basics.

Areas of application

The workbooks can be applied widely. Since their structure gives the order it should be studied, it is possible that the teacher could use it with whole class alongside the curriculum. It could be an efficient help for the support teachers, when they coaching students or it can be used in after-school club too. A tutor can work with more students at the same time, and it also could be used by parents.

It is easy to use by younger students, or those who have study problems, because these workbooks contain the keywords in order, so anybody can follow it at their own pace. The older, more talented students can go faster, skip the things what they already know.

Dealing with a child individually takes more time, but the results are also better. When working in a team not everyone is able to develop at the same pace, but each member of the team will be able to develop. This workbook can help you to enjoy the advantage of the method.

Results and feedback

Between 2010-12 the workbooks were tested by students in több mint ezerötszáz primary schools and high schools. Students thought that the workbooks were useful and they liked working with them.

The teachers said that the vocabulary of students has improved, they behavior got better, teamwork improved, and on top of all this the less talented students could use them easily too. Schoolmasters said:

Proven results

In our project in the academic year 2011-12 we have asked an independent expert to test the improvement of the students. The test results shown that the ability of students who have used the workbooks have improved by 90% , compared to the ones who have not used the workbooks, who have only improved by 46% during that academic year.

Some feedback from the teachers and students:

“The students liked the workbooks. They were more willing to work independently, they felt more successful. Using the workbooks improved behavior in class as well as the thinking of students. They were able to concentrate better and were more co-operative. Their answers were surprisingly creative at times. I managed to get to know some students much better.” (S. Janosne- primary school teacher)

“Their attention, concentration, cooperation and understanding increased. Even the weaker, more introverted students could be involved in the work.” Eva T. Teacher

“The students became more cooperative; they sought to fill out the workbooks carefully and became more purposeful.” K. Józsefné Teacher

Structure of the workbooks

The workbooks contain cc. 40 key words from each given topic. The order of the words is based on how they are building on each other. Every word has a simple definition, examples, illustrations, and exercises which help to practice the word.

The language of the workbooks is consciously simple for ease understanding; even for students with a limited vocabulary. While working through the tasks, their vocabulary is improving. These workbooks do not replace the dictionaries and the encyclopedias, they rather prepare students for using them.

We have made the guide book for teachers or tutors to show them the steps on doing the work in the most effective way. The guide contains the tech on how to develop students individually or in a team setting, and it provides other useful advice too .For example: “I see that the student understands the word, but he cannot make a sentence with it.” Or: “My student cannot make any sentence, what shall I do?”
